Functions and Organization Structure

| The State Statistical Organization was established at the fag end of the 3rd Five Year Plan(1964-65) with a nucleus staff and is functioning as a full fledged Directorate since the begining of 4th five Year plan 1969. |

The Department is functioning as a nodal department for implementation of all Statistical Schemes
under the administrative control and supervision of Addl.Director,one Jt.Director,five Deputy Directors and seven Asst.Directors.
Director of Eco&Stat is also the Chief Registrar of Births&Deaths( Civil Registration are in operation since July 1974).The functions
of the Department is broadly three tier basis viz. Block Level, District Level and State Level, Village statistics is collected by the
Sub Inspectors of Statistics posted in each rural blocks through Village Level works (VLW).The District Statistical Officer (DSO) looks
after the statistical activities in the district and is responsible for compilation of District level statistical reports.

The Directorate of Economics and Statistics as a nodal agency has so far been providing service in the form
data collection,compilation,reports and analysis of statistical data to as many as 24 (Twenty-Four) different Directorates by opening Statistical
Cells in each departments and their day to day activities are soley at the disceretion of the concerned departments.
